YST Updates:
Major astrological events this week:
Leo season is here!!!! : ♌❤️🔥
Chiron goes retrograde in Aries on July 26th (today!)
Please welcome LEO SEASON
The sun entered bold, fiery Leo on July 23rd and will remain there until August 22nd.
In astrology, Leo is ruled by the sun. In our birth charts, the house where our sun sign resides is the area of life where we are meant to shine!
Being ruled by the sun, Leo naturally loves to shine and stand out. During Leo season we are called to channel boldness and allow ourselves to shine, be bold, and put ourselves out there without fear or apprehension.
This is an opportune time to showcase any and all creative projects you’ve been working on, so post that video, sign up for that open mic night, and send your friend that book you’ve been working on!!
The word ‘unapologetic’ comes to mind regarding Leos and Leo season. Now is also the time to reevaluate friendships and connections, and examine who not only accepts you but embraces you, all of you, not the watered-down version!
Chiron goes retrograde in Aries
In astrology, Chiron is an asteroid that represents “The Wounded Healer.” Its house placement, and to a lesser extent, its zodiac sign help us understand the area(s) of our lives where our deepest emotional wound lies. This wound can transform into our greatest gift when we master the energy associated with it and help others dealing with similar issues.
Chiron stays in the same sign for approximately four years. Currently, Chiron is in the sign of Aries, which rules the 1st House in astrology. People who have their Chiron in Aries could struggle to develop a solid sense of identity and can also struggle with asserting themselves. On a collective level, Chiron in Aries provokes power struggles, leadership challenges (just look at the political climate worldwide right now…), and anger management. This is because Aries, which is ruled by Mars, deals with themes of leadership, assertion, anger, and power, and having Chiron placed here forces us to address and deal with the not-so-pleasant Aries traits (Aries has wonderful traits too, but Chiron forces us to deal with the challenging ones when it comes to all the zodiac signs, not just Aries!)
During the Chiron retrograde period, which lasts until December 29th, we may feel compelled to reflect on our deepest traumas, especially those that we have buried deep within. This could be triggering but ultimately very healing and beneficial, as it will ultimately compel us to be more compassionate and empathetic with those around us.
Astrology concept of the week: What are the different types of astrology?
Astrology has been practiced around the world since around the 2nd-3rd millennium BCE.
Unsurprisingly, astrology has been modified by different cultures throughout history. Therefore, there are various interpretations of how it should be practiced. Even specific sects of astrology have some variations within them.
I personally practice Western Astrology because it’s what I have studied most and what I’m most comfortable with.
Some of the branches of astrology include:
.Western Astrology: Popular in Western countries, derives from a mix of Hellenistic and Babylonian traditions.
.Vedic Astrology: Mainly practiced in India, has its origins in Hinduism, and was also influenced by Greek astronomy.
.Hellenistic Astrology: Started in Babylon and developed in Hellenized Greek-speaking areas (Greece, Macedonia, parts of Northern and Eastern Africa, and parts of the Middle East.)
.Chinese Astrology: Emerged during the Zhou dynasty and became popularized during the Han dynasty. Incorporates elements (wood, fire, Earth, metal, & water) and animals.
.Uranian Astrology: A newer type of astrology developed by Friedrich Sieggrün and Alfred Witte, who led the contemporary astrological revival in Germany during the 1920’s.
